Unless you were held captive for months, tortured, and gone through "mock" executions, you'd have no idea how you'd react.

(Also, anyone who tried to resist would probably have just been shot and the footage would never make it the wider world. Taping the beheadings are yet another tool of the terrorists.)

OP, please show more compassion for these poor men and their grieving families. And don't judge them on how they spent their last few moments alive. It's extremely disrespectful.

OP - DH and I said the same thing this morning after seeing the report about the British prisoner. He said - I don't understand why these guys are trying to fight back...even though they know they can't win or get away.

I suspect there is some other prisoner--possibly a woman or child, off camera, that they are abusing and they use the threat of causing that person more pain or less pain as a tool to control the victim.

Yeah, OP is kind of a jackass. It's one thing to say, "how can they sit there and not cry or shake?" I just said to my husband "holy crap, these men have balls of STEAL." I'm in awe of their ability to remain stoic.

Yes, probably. I feel pretty confident that I would not kick someone in shins. I would cry if I knew I was about to be beheaded. I think most people would.
