Because if I've placed them on my plate, it indicates I'm done with everything there. If I were not done with them, they would not be on my plate.

I prefer clean utensils because I don't like that I can usually still taste the last course on them.

This is a very American thing. I don't understand why you get a fresh plate, but you can't get a fresh knife and fork.

Taking forever to bring the check. It is as bad as taking forever to come to the table to take my order. So many restaurants have a problem with this. I now ask for the check when I'm halfway through the meal.

When some random guy comes by and asks how everything is but gives zero indication he works there. Happened tonight and he asked while my mouth was full too. That's two pet peeves.
