Counseling in elementary school

The "rumor" at our ES is that the teachers mainly recommend for the HGC the kids with behavior issues - obviously we are not a school with an HGC in it But seriously admittance is almost exclusively based on the test. I would not worry, op.

MCPS teacher here....Issues in K have absolutely NOTHING to do with getting into the HGC.

This makes sense. Issues may indicate that home school does not meet needs, therefore HGC is good.

I don't understand why some schools are anti-HGC.

I mean why did only 1 get in and 3 recommended...That seems like a very small number unless the school is very small. The past two years about 7 kids have gotten in out of a class of 100.
