how often do you visit a GP for a "well-visit"?

DH is nearing 50, and I'm in my mid 40's. Before, we hardly did a well checkup. Now, I'm thinking we should do it every year because we both have a family history of heart disease, cancer.. etc.

+1 It's a good thing to do a full blood work up every year to make sure you are staying healthy. Most insurance companies pay for this type of preventative care.

+2 I go for the relationship, the blood work and to get weighed. We compare my numbers every year and see where I should be focusing. I'm 42.

It's called a physical. My insurance pays part of my out of pocket deductible if I do one, so I do!

It's good to do every year or so, and if you are done having babies, you are in the age range where it is good to do annual bloodwork!

Every 4 years or so.

Yes, every year or two. Just call to schedule a physical. It's pretty standard. You don't have to ask for a "well visit" because that makes it sound like you are a child. You want to make sure your shots are up to date for one thing. Think tetanus, etc.
