Have you done the ice bucket challenge for ALS?

People in Africa would love to have this water..there are droughts all over the world and yet people were dumping water on each each other and wasting it. There wasn't a lot of response from her approximate twenty-something aged contemporaries- we imagined there must have been some eye rolling because that's what WE were doing.

I am not making this up....and she was pretty serious about her objections.

How many half empty water bottles has she seen thrown out after "having drinks" by the pool, at home, etc. Think about it.

Well, it certainly would be pathetic if you lived in California and did this, what with the horrible drought there.

If so I am going to take my 4y old !! She asked for it the other day when we saw a big line to go under the bucket but even though I saw some children in the line, I assumed they were only tagging along with their parents….

Huh? The only videos I've seen are people in their own backyards or bathtubs. As far as I know there's no official place to "get it done".

Not necessarily. A friend did it over her veggie garden -- two birds, one stone.

Yeah I don't know what this means. Line to go under the bucket?

I'm pretty sure no one has challenged me because they all know how heavily pregnant I am currently (due next month). I have shared local places that are getting in on the action, like Great American Restaurants. GAR apparently lost one of their founders to ALS, so they are big into the cause.

I probably won't do this challenge/donation drive this time around, but will donate again to my friend who lost her mother to ALS when she does the local walk.

I was challenged, I'm ignoring as I have no intention of dumping ice water on my head & filming it to later post. I may or may not give to an ALS charity. I give generously throughout the year to various charities & causes. I refuse to be peer- pressured into giving.

Because I don't care about trends.

Because I don't want cold water and ice on my head and body.

Because in the past two months I have donated to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Breast Cancer, Easter Seals, etc etc etc. I'm gonna be my own charity case soon if this doesn't stop. Enough.

Sometime I feel like a looser because I get as far away as possible from anything that is the "trend of the month."

I hate to "follow" which is probably why I became a Republican after so many friends jumped on Obama's Hope and Change farce.

I saw on the news that they are actually fining people in California for doing it. Honestly sounds like that shouldn't be true but it was on the news.

I don't get it. People think they're so awesome because they dumped water over the head. They chose to dump the water because they either 1) dump the water or 2) donate $100 to ALS charity, right?

Hey, you'd be more awesome if you DIDN'T accept the challenge and actually donated the money.

And to anyone who says "oh, they're both donating AND dumping", I call BS.

Why? That's actually the truth with people I know.

Also, considering that the AlSA says the campaign has raised $11 million, you are the one who is full of BS.

No, I'm not. I'd guess the ones donating are not the ones parading around on facebook. They're the ones being challenged and not accepting. Or the ones who have been made aware of it by seeing the videos. True, I believe the famous people doing the dumps are also donating, but please don't tell me 14 year old mall-goer and 22 year old college jock and 44 year old welfare mom are donating too.
