Toronto in two days

The butterfly conservatory in Niagara is lovely, as is Bird Kingdom (Canadian side). There is also a military museum if your husband is a buff, but likely not so thrilling for the kids. If you have the time, Niagara on the Lake is stunning just to walk through for the day, and the area is surrounded by wineries and orchards.

In Toronto, the current hot ticket is Ripleys Aquarium. Only advice on that is get your ticket ahead of time (to avoid waiting in line). It's at the base of the CN tower so you can catch two attractions at once. Fort York is pretty close.
If the kids need to just burn some energy, Centre Island is just a ferry ride away, and usually there is a bunch of cool free stuff going on at Harbourfront.
The ROM is great, as is the Science Centre.
Casa Loma is gorgeous, but probably not super thrilling for kids.
The zoo is also amazing, but sadly it's a full day excursion on its own. I think the pandas are there this year, though.

How apropos! We are in Toronto right now (headed to Niagara tomorrow, actually) and I just searched DCUM for Toronto and Royal Ontario Museum but didn't get anything. And then I check again, and voila!

My kids and I loved the ROM. Highly recommend it. We got there right at 10am and it felt like we had the museum all to ourselves. Great dinosaur exhibit (my kids are younger though, so dinosaurs were right up their alley), and even the special exhibit on China and the Forbidden city was walked through with interest.

We also went to Casa Loma, and it was nice. Not too thrilling, but 4 yo DS actually loved climbing up the tower and going down through the tunnel and walking the secret passageway. The gardens were pretty too.

DH took his mom to St. Lawrence market for breakfast and raved about it.

Tried to do CN tower in the afternoon, but it was a 1.5 hr wait. DS saw the aquarium next door and desperately wanted to go, but the line was horrific. We went back to the hotel and got ice cream instead. If you want to do either of these things, I'd get there as soon as it opens.

We wanted to visit the islands, but the weather didn't cooperate. Perhaps next time.

Going to do Africa Lion Safari on our way to Niagara tomorrow. The kids are excited.

Toronto has been a hit so far for us. Hope you have fun too!
