I just can't make ends meet so I'm thinking I will try and do this. You have to work at least 10 hours/week... that's the part I'm wondering about. It seems easy, but if there's a week where I just can't find the time - is there a penalty? Will they drop me?
I am hoping I can just try and do a few hours one night, then a few hours on the weekend.. maybe while I'm doing laundry or just lounging.

There were times I did less than 10 hours due to not having enough tasks or just me not having enough time (I was working around 30 hours a week and going to school part time, so not as much as you but I did have school work) and it was fine. I'm not sure how strict they are now though.

To all that have done this, did you just email your resume to
temporaryjobs@google.com ?

or did you attach your resume and have a cover letter in the body of your email?

I just did a brief into email and skipped the cover letter and I did attach a resume. I recall hearing somewhere that they prefer if you have a degree.

PP that you quoted here - I have three degrees (from decently ranked schools in quantitative subjects) - suffice to say I never heard back

I applied around the same time that this thread was active. I only have one degree But I do have a resume showing many years of editorial work for a highly esteemed general-interest publication. Never heard back either. Phooey.

I know this is like a year later, but did they ask you to do a test? After the initial acceptance?

Yes, they do require you do a test. They provide a manual for you to study and learn the process.
