S/o if YOU were going to college today, where would you go?

Curious where you ended up going.
I wish I went to a college with a great football and basketball program -- I think the student fans have such a great time and stay fans for a lifetime.

4. MIT
5. Wharton (Fisher Program)

Confused why you would think Yale wouldn't lead to a good job? Or Pomona or Williams, for that matter.

I would not go to college. I would learn a trade....specifically welder. I may go this route.

it is a relative measure (i.e. comparing Y to its peers). The dream schools i mentioned are no where near as pre-professional as the second set below.

I've noticed OCI and networks for the jobs UG's fight over the most (consulting, finance, sv tech) isn't as strong at Y as it is at H,S,P, or W.

Now some of it is because the kids that go to Y are not as pre-professional and firms know this even though they would like to have Y grads.

The second set of schools on the other hand have the top firms in competitive sectors all fall over each other during recruiting out of UG.

Not saying the first set doesn't lead to good jobs (these grads do fine, but they have to go out of their way a bit more IMO) compared to the second set of schools where firms from across various industries all show up with their hats in hand every fall trying to recruit kids for internships and ft offers.

I wouldn't. Total waste of money. I'd travel for a year and then land an apprenticeship.

I think if I say it I'll out myself, but interestingly it's a school with a great basketball program (won it all once upon a time).

This. Know people who went to college and couldn't find a good job. So they went into a trade so they could earn a living. They are still paying off their student debt years afterwards when their degrees didn't do squat for them except waste their time and money.

I fell in love with Davidson when we toured NC schools. Sadly my kids both thought the cute little town was too small.

I went to an in-state college that was in the same city I grew up in. I would NEVER do that again. I would definitely go away for a truly different experience.
