Julius West and Takoma Park Middle Schools

The IB program is not what it claims. My daughter is in classes with everyone of all levels and she just gets a little bit extra to work on and they claim "IB"

Are you thinking that IB is a form of acceleration? Not at all..the IB curriculum is given to all kids and has nothing to do with acceleration. Heterogeneous grouping is implemented at most MCPS middle schools. It has nothing to do with IB.

So the answer is Takoma Park.

The fact that IB does not offer homogenous grouping does not mean that it is not a consideration in choosing schools. It is known to support rigor.

My child went to a 4/5 magnet but did not apply to TP because of the commute. He is still in a very accelerated math class at JW. He has a broader peer group at JW for sure but is still learning and is fine.

I think the haters are plural. Probably a reason for that.

+1M

I cannot imagine turning down a slot in the TPMS magnet.

We love JW. There is the IB program and honors classes. My boys are doing very well there.
