My DD discovered that she had breast buds at age 8 1/2. She was so concerned that I took her to the pediatrician to be checked out. What I learned is that puberty is not a linear progression on a fixed timeline. Usually, period starts about a year or so after public hair appears.
FWIW, my DD breasts have grown a bit in the intervening 18 months. She is wearing a sports/training bra. Still no armpit or public hair, and no period (she is 10 now). The pediatrician was very reassuring for her and said that it was a good idea for DD to be prepared for her period just in case. So, we got her a pouch in which she keeps a fresh pair of underwear, some wipes & some pads. It's very discreet & tucked into her binder pocket. In the meantime, one of her BFFs has gotten her period so the idea is not so scary/strange for my DD now. Also, FWIW, my daughter is sporty/fit (on the thinner side) and we have always drunk only organic milk, eat organic as much as possible. |
I ate LOTS of hormone injected meat and milk as a kid.... didn't have a period until I was almost 14 (13 yrs. + 11 mos.). My DD also eats mainstream meats and milk (nothing organic or hormone free -- well, I don't look for that on the packages, I just buy what's in the normal stores)... and at almost 11 yrs, she has nothing under her arms (except stink). I'm not saying there isn't SOME influence of hormones in the milk/meat making puberty earlier across the human population... but it's apparently NOT a significant change or not a 100% correlation. What does make puberty earlier is WEIGHT.... the more fat you have on your body, the more estrogen you will have in your system b/c fat holds estrogen. Maybe that's why I was a late bloomer and my DD will probably be too. |

We are fairly hairy |

My DD had her period the day she turned 14, in 9th grade. She was developing breasts before that but not anything out of the ordinary. We have been always hairy.
My DS started developed pubic hair when he was 7 - 8. Now at 10 his bone age test has shown that he is advanced by 2 years. However he is not in puberty regardless of the bone aging and pubes (testicles are still small), there is some breast tissues (but it has not increased) - and so while he is being monitored every 3 months - we still haven't started him on any treatment. The endo suspects that either it was a one time exposure or that if there is any issue in the adrenal gland - it is too small to have been caught in the last scan. At the same time, (disregarding the hairiness of our family) - we have both kinds of relatives - excessively tall and excessively short. We have no idea how he will turn out. |
| My son started in 3rd grade. |
| 8. XH and I are both hairy. Her legs were hairy since toddlerhood. Thick, dark coarse hair. |
| I got mine around 15. I got my period at 10. I remember comparing hairiness with other girls at that age and I didn't have arm pit hair. |
