Help a newbie: good beach for a weekend with kids?

Dry town...what kind of vacation is that

One where I feel safe on the boardwalk. We let our 9-13yr olds go up without parents to do the arcades/rides. No college drunks, like OCMD and Dewey. Quiet at night. We bring in our alcohol to our hotel or house and drink on the deck. Great restaurants at Somer's Point right over the bridge if you need alcohol on the menu. Highly recommend. It is nothing like north jersey beaches (which are similar to OCMD)
