I average $200/month.

Car paid for in cash (10 years ago); $50/month for gas (I commute by metro); $70/month for car insurance; average $80/month or 1K year for maintenance and repairs.

What someone else's car costs are is ridiculous. What kind of car?, what sort of insurance will you need?, how much do you drive?, where do you park it?, etc

2006 Ford Escape Hybrid, 2009 Prius, both paid for in cash. $640 insurance every 6 months, 60% one spouse who has 2 tickets 1 accident on record.
We spend about $40-60 gas a month since we commute together most everywhere and we get good gas mileage. Oil change about twice a year on Escape ($100/yr), once a year on Prius ($50/yr) so probably average about $175/month including annual maintenance.
