Not fruits and vegetables. I spent every summer until I turned 18 working on my grandparents' farms. We still spend a lot of time there. I know that the little "organic" sticker means absolutely nothing most of the time.
I do buy meat and eggs from local sources. I can't stand the idea of supporting unethical treatment of animals. On our family farms, all of our animals are grass/grain fed and in open pasture. All of our chickens are cage free/free range. |

I try to, but it's less about any perceived benefit on my end (they've even come out with reports suggesting the "dirty dozen" isn't that big a deal) and more because of the benefits for the environment as a whole.
Like many PPs, I place more emphasis on humanely raised animals, and try to limit meat consumption in general. I actually am frustrated by folks who are opposed to GMO food. In my opinion, it's not much different from the process of crating hybrid plants that has been going on since humans began agriculture. Yes, there is more "tech" involved, but we've always used the technology available to us throughout the ages. Many GMO varieties are more resistant to pests. Guess what? If the plant is more resistant to pests, the farmers don't have to spray as much insecticide! Win! |
| I try to buy organic as much as possible. I do believe it's better. Less chemicals. |
| I do not think it tastes better. We only but Organic dairy, poultry, fish, meat, berries, peaches, apricot and plums. |
