Contesting tickets is absolutely worth the time and effort. In DC it is easy and can be done online.
I just recently got the verdict back on a ticket I contested: I never saw the ticket and got hit with a late fee. The late fee notice was mailed to me which is how I figured it out at all. I just explained that I never got the ticket and would be happy to pay the $45 fee for the original offense but could they waive the late fee. They concluded I was liable for the original ticket (I was) but waived the late fee. No numbers to back this up but I've heard that almost all contested parking tickets are dropped. |

I contested two tickets just like the prior poster did. It was really easy and I won both times. Not sure why that is any more odd than people claiming not to bother contesting a ticket because it is hard when it’s actually really easy. |
