Karasik or Silver Spring Learning Center Preschool -- specific feedback

But the food issues are not at all a big deal unless your kid only eats meat. We bought fake chicken nuggets and lots of other veggie options that worked fine especially since they can microwave the kids lunch for you.

I think the very stable staff speaks highly of sslc as being extremely well run. The director is wonderful and very organized & responsive. Most teachers have been there many years. They have a huge playground and a very good indoor play spot and make ample use of both. Another reason we liked sslc so much was the very low class size compared to most other preschools.

As a non-Jew I thought my kid fit in fine and had a number of playdates with the buddies she made. I did not really make friends so much (although that was not really a big goal of mine) though since they don't have family socialization events. I loved that they limited the things they invited parents to come in for (I.e. fewer days off work for them) and that the vital things were communicated by email primarily.

I agree with this. It's a really great school. Only drawback for us were the number of closings.

Another Karasik parent here and I agree with the PPs about what's great there. My son has been there for 2.5 years and we intend to keep him there through kindergarten and possibly for aftercare once he's in school.

I can't say I've honestly looked into other formal preschools to compare the curriculum to Karasik. What I can say is that my son loves it there, is thriving in terms of language and developmentally appropriate skills and we love the community. If things change closer to kindergarten time I would think of moving him but for now we are very happy so I can't see us leaving.

Both of my children have attended Karasik from toddlerhood up to kindergarten. My children have very different needs/personalities, but both have thrived and were well loved there. I am a professional in early childhood development and spend my work days in daycare centers. Karasik is a gem!
