What do you base this statement on? |

Is it any wonder in a county that is so bent on making data points on kids "secure documents" that kids fail the final exam? Kids do not have an opportunity to learn from their mistakes prior to taking the exam. Kids do not even get to see their exam after they take it so in all probability, they will continue to do poorly on future exams. Just look at trend for failure on Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre Calculus and Calculus exams.
Hmm. These classes also had the same number of snow days as the Algebra students - they just weren't the new and improved 2.0. Did they get a 15% boost in their exam scores? Or do only 2.0 students need the extra credit to pass? |

Science is non existent in my kids ES.
Also they stated it took 3 to 4 weeks to prep andf take the HSA... WTF? They took 3 weeks out of regular instruction, to prep for a test that measures how well children understand the material and then failed the final exam. Does anyone see how ridiculous that sounds, you can blah blah 2.0 all you want but algebra is algebra, 3x+2=8 solve for x can't be that different under curriculums. |

Nowadays the only correct response is to draw Venn diagrams and number lines to answer multiplication, division, and algebra questions. Totally incorrect if you do the standard straight line math. |
There is a lot more to algebra than 3x + 2 = 8 solve for x. |
Exactly! Less deeper systems would only teach the child to solve for X. The child would just be doing math. Math is not something that should be done. It isn't a system of numerical relationships. Too many people think that symbols in math have specific meanings. They are just rote memorizing those meanings and applying them with different number patterns. This is bad, very bad. MCPS has a better way. Math is about reflective discourse, prose, and imagination. Numbers have multiple meanings depending on the context of the sentence and viewpoint of the author. In MCPS your child will never learn the mundane aspects of how to solve for X. Your child will learn to imagine whether "3" is actually the proper name "Three" referring to a young girl with balloon and what happens when she lets go of that balloon. What does "Three" do when she drops her balloon while standing next to "X" a frog that can talk. "+" is really "Plus" the overweight and misfit sibling to "Two"her more popular older sister. What happens when this gang all jumbles together and meets up with "Equal" and "Eight" new kids on the block? See the answer doesn't matter when you are thinking deeper and building more logical number sense. Its all about social emotional intelligence, please leave any actual IQ capability at home when doing MCPS math 2.0. |
LOL. How can they not see how stupid they are and how much they are hurting our children's education. |
