You had me with the pay and benefits, but what the hell are you talking about the racists? Why in the world would you say that private schools are full of racists? If you had a bad experience at some point in your life with a private school then I'm very sorry, but to paint such a large brush over all private schools is more than a bit ridiculous...

I've worked at several. It's a common theme

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but I still don't buy it. I've also had experience with several privates, and while not everyone is rosy and open-minded and there were probably some people who could be labeled racists, it's too much of a stretch to suggest that a majority of them are racists - that's a strong word. And before you accuse me of bias - I'm in a minority group myself. Sometimes, PP, people simply don't like you or you don't do a good job, but it doesn't make them racists. Sorry.

True, and sometimes folks are just racist.

For you maybe. But I don't think the kids are thinking a lot about the school admin. The little kids have no clue and the older kids have other worries.

And sometimes folks are just race baiters.

I don't see how race has anything to do with anything here.

How is the high school administrator leaving "LOTS AND LOTS OF TURNOVER'?!

In the world of hyperbole and nothing better to do, it is what it is.

Losing the Upper school head is a good thing according to many US parents I've spoken with (I'm a LS parent). I've heard this from people who were both for and against TF, so I think there's some validity to dissatisfaction with her. It will be interesting to see what the search com ends up with.

Op, just putting this topic out here on DCUM is a dangerous thing when there are so many haters who are just looking to criticize a school. There are people who love a fight and will just come on to knock a school if their child did not make the cut or if they are at a school that they feel is a competitor. I am just saying I have seen a lot of petty comments towards private schools on a lot of threads and usually the posters do not even know the real school culture. Just a warning.

Back to the main question. Nothing unusual is going on that doesn't happen elsewhere. From my perspective these are good changes.

I'm not connected to Sidwell at all, but these types of posts are so silly. Turnover happens at all schools for all sorts of reasons - most often for good reasons. I'm quite certain Sidwell will do just fine through the transition and I don't think any parents need to worry. I also think the rest of us not connected to Sidwell (or any other school with new administrators since it happens all the time…) should just leave them alone to adjust to the new hires.

I am an SFS parent and I can say that this turnover is both unusual and welcome. Sidwell has struggled with upper school leadership for some time, but I'm hopefully the school will start heading in the right direction soon.
