Watching a movie during PE b/c it's too hot outside on Friday!

My DD was shown a movie on Thurs. in Adv. Math (no big deal), then came back to her regular class and they were shown "Because of Winn Dixie" for Thurs. afternoon (not a big deal b/c they apparently read that book in school, but a little concerning b/c she already had a movie in the morning of the same day).

Then went to Adv. Math on Fri. morning and the teacher tried to show them "Because of Winn Dixie"! Of course, the kids started talking and not paying attention b/c they had just seen it the day before... so finally the teacher figured it out and just let them talk.

I know it's the end of the year and they are all about playing and partying... but good grief.... could they change the movies a little?

Oh yeah... so when she went back to her regular class for Fri. afternoon, the regular teacher turned on Frozen! So, pretty much ALL movies and parties ALL the time. I don't really blame parents who opt out of next week.

And of course, we hear "can't teach cursive anymore b/c we don't have time!" Well, maybe THIS last week would be a good time to do some of that learnin' that can't be done when prepping for the SOLs???

There are absolutely things that teachers get away with that other jobs don't, but the reverse is usually true too. I have fantasized about having a job when I could go to the bathroom when I needed to, or where there was an option for taking a phone call out of earshot of others.

I haven't taught in years--but I still remember the bathroom issue. One year, I had to take one of the disruptive kids with me and make her wait outside the door. I couldn't leave her in the room with the rest of the kids.

My kid's class watched World Cup Soccer in school for few days. How about that?

At least that would be related to PE!! They might even jump up and down and get excited for a team which would be some exercise.

Prefer they r exercising but not the end of the world considering school stops academically June 1st anyway.
