How old was your child when you first took them to a pediatric dentist?

We took DD when she was around 3 as well. She goes to Dr. Davis at Tyson's, and we are very happy with him. DD is a spirited, sensitive kid who couldn't handle much beyond a quick look in her mouth at the first visit. He and his staff are gentle and very kid-friendly, and they tried a couple of different strategies to get her more comfortable with dental visits. DD had to have 2 fillings early on (having to do with a couple of baby teeth that didn't form correctly in utero), and I was VERY nervous. I thought she'd have to be sedated and / or would be traumatized by the experience. I don't know how Dr. Davis does it, but all she needed was nitrous, and it went really well. DD actually loves going to the dentist.

12 months. That seemed to be the recent recommendation I've been reading, but most people I've talked to said 3 yrs, regular dentist, not pediatric dentist. Our pediatric dentist described the practice as aggressively preventive. They did a fluoride treatment and said they would recommend sealants later.
