Well, it kind of did once our squad was named. I can't believe Klinsmann didn't include Landon Donovan.

Agreed! I could see cutting Landon if it we weren't in such a killer group. But, c'mon, give the "old" guy one last WC--it's not like the US is going to advance. Don't get me wrong, I'd be THRILLED to be wrong, but I'm trying to be realistic about our chances. Given the competition, I wish he would've kept Landon. (On another note, I'm royally pissed that Brad Evans didn't make it, either.)

Landon disappears in world cup matches and he is out of shape.

OTOH - Altidore finally got untracked today in the final warm up against Nigeria.

Looked much better! Although, I went to the Spain game today at FedEx and wow, what a team. They barely looked like they were trying and they controlled the ball probably 80% of the game.

By "untracked," you mean "on track," right? I hear sportscasters using this word all the time. Like when they used "defensed" as a verb instead of "defended." Drives me nuts.

And heck yes, Jozy is on track to score some goals in the Cup now.

Here's where the games are being shown around town: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/going-out-guide/wp/2014/06/11/world-cup-2014-where-to-watch-your-favorite-team/

And for today's opening: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/going-out-guide/wp/2014/06/12/world-cup-happy-hour-opening-day/

That being said, does anyone know of any kid-friendly viewing parties/spots? My experiences with trying to take my kids with me to sports bars/pubs has not been positive.

I wouldn't go that far. We probably don't get out of the group, but this U.S. squad is going to be a tough out for anyone. A win over Ghana, which is highly possible, and a German win over Portugal and we may be in business. A loss or tie to Ghana and we are basically done barring a real fluke later in group play, though.

Meh, he's 32. Time for some new blood. I love Klinsmann.

He's got 8 guys over 30 - and he couldn't find 1 spot for our best player? You should watch that documentary they've been showing about the road to Brazil for the US team. Klinsmann can barely contain his disdain for Donovan. My concern is that other than Bradley, we don't really have any play makers (well, maybe Dempsey). Jozy Altidore ain't gonna do it.

What documentary? Where is it playing on TV (what channel) or Netflix?
ESPN played the entire series last night starting at 6pm. http://espn.go.com/30for30/soccer

What a game yesterday! I have Brazil going all the way but they looked flabby against Croatia. Can't wait to see the rematch between the Netherlands and Spain. There'll be blood on the field!

Not quite the expected outcome. Spain looked awful, it was almost shocking to watch. They have all these star defenders and they seemed to be asleep.

What happened with Netherlands and Spain, why was there a re-match?
