Merrifield?

But do check what PPs said about the public schools. Even if you go private, the resale value of your townhouse will reflect the stature of your local pyramid of FCPS schools.

Totally agree. Anjelika is amazing ... one of the best theaters in the DC area. The farmers market they've started there is excellent too ... rivals Falls Church in quality and selection, but at least for now is far less crowded and hectic. The Merrifield. Garden center is so beautiful. I could drop $300 every weekend if I could swing it! Hidden gem: the snack bar inside the garden center is actually delicious ... the man that runs it treats it like his family restaurant (it very well might be) with the highest quality service, effort, and ingredients. Killer breakfast sandwiches! And you can't beat the al fresco dining amid the gorgeous flowers.

The strip next to Merrifield with the Roadhouse restaurant, Trio Grill, and Beer and Wine store is excellent too.

This area is really changing for the better.

Dunn Loring is a very nice area- lots of quiet streets and you can walk to metro and Mosaic. It has an old fashioned feel to it. Not sure on home prices, but I have the feeling it would be a good investment to buy there as the values should go up as the area continues to grow.

This is true but you also get more house for your money with the initial purchase, so it evens out.

Not walking distance to Mosaic, but our neighborhood was redistricted to Woodson and the maps will change in June so if you buy before the general public figures it out, you may get a bargain. All SFHs in our neighborhood and the last 3 sold for $515, $550ish, and $610. The last one was beautifully updated and has a huge fenced private yard. So you are more likely to see houses in the mid to high $500s. The elementary school is very small and people seem to like it. We do drive to the Mosaic easily and enjoy eating and shopping there. We live within waking distance to Wegmans.

You must be describing the Fairfax Villa ES area in Fairfax west of Mosaic.
