Have you ever sat in or driven the different cars? I agree with you to a point. Where I tend to go for the common/"lower" manufacturer if the specs are similar with a luxury brand. ie would prefer a high end Nissan, Toyota, Honda versus a low end Infiniti, Acura or Nissan. But other than the cars that are borderline at those thresholds, the cars aren't that similar. Just the fact the the majority of Lexuses are rear wheel drive(at least the last time I looked), while Toyotas are front wheel drive, show that they have different drive trains and are not the same cars. Fit and finish are different as well. Honda tunes the Acura vehicles slightly different and also give technology not available to Hondas. For example the Acura MDX gets slightly more horsepower than the Pilot, even though they're both based off of the same platform and I think might be manufactured in the same plant. |
