Visiting a fertility doctor is okay with their religion?

I doubt she intends to have any more children. The show writers know that trip to a fertility clinic will get everyone talking and watching. Exhibit A: This thread. Oh the buzz....

Exactly.

It's all about the bottom line.

Yup. There are no fertility doctors in the Bible!

I'm pretty sure there's no reality television in the Bible too.

Spreading God's word OOH vs. vanity/pride/greed OTOH. Latter are two of the biggie sins!

But is the visit considered considering a deal with the Devil? Or is fertility treatments considered a gift from God? (No offense to those who have used fertility treatments; just meaning this in terms of this particular fam and their beliefs.)

This is the only type of "babies" she should get from now on!

How did they explain on the show how this fits into their "as many as God sends us plan"? If they really believed that wouldn't they just be waiting around at this point for a baby to come along and if it didn't - well no big deal because that's God's plan.

Also, they must have been advised by adoption agencies that there is no way there application would be successful.

I will never understand the religion and fertility treatment connection. And especially not for someone like her - how in the world would using fertility treatments jive with their whole "take what God gives us" philosophy?

The people using fertility treatments then refusing selective reduction make no sense to me (I'm looking at you Kate Gosselin), either, but that is another post.

Link? In a way this is good news - if it helps bring fertility treatments closer to full acceptance in the (their ?) religious community ...

I took away from one of the articles I read that they were asking the fertility doctor what her odds were and if someone her age could/should carry. Don't think they were going to seek treatment. And it was probably set up by the show. I can't believe they would want more at this point!!

There are adoption agencies who will give just about anyone a baby for the right price so don't be fooled!

Yes. I don't think it's an unreasonable visit at all.
She wants to know, if there is anything she can do to make it safer, *if* she should conceive.
I think it is natural to have this wish (disregarding her age now), especially following a miscarriage.

This is what happens when people start taking the Bible too literally...Meaning word for word.

Sure, it says "Be fruitful and produce...", but we must take into account the time span it was written in.

Times have changed and now the Earth is overpopulated. Resources are strained and it makes no sense to sacrifice one's health/well-being just because you want to follow one sentence in The Bible.

I think God was giving them signs w/their chemical pregnancy and premature baby, but they seem quite stubborn so I wonder what God is thinking of next.

She's a baby hoarder.
