Agree with the poster above. I love Dr. Desouza (getting ready to deliver my second with him) and his staff is NOTHING but friendly and professional. Please don't malign them here. |

I am a Malcolm Desouza patient, 36 weeks. I LOVE his nurse Michelle (though we've had to remind her a few times to send our labs to the right place, so we don't get charged improperly.) Desouza's front desk staff SUCKS, though, she doesn't speak English well at all and she mumbles and is generally not helpful. (The medical billing person, Mercedes, I think, is better, according to my husband.)
Desouza is generally a good doctor, I think his use of ultrasounds at every visit is weird (he's never asked if I didn't want one, just does it.) Also his answers to my questions about eventualities (induction, C-section, etc.) were not very thorough. He maintains that he will honor our wishes but when I ask specific questions about procedures I never feel like I get a full answer. Relating to symptoms or issues, his answers are always extremely short. (E.g., Q: What can I do about the pain? A: Nothing.) Also, my husband and I have both found that far from "spacey," he actually jumps in and answers questions before we finish (often answering the wrong question!) However he is patient and does take lots of time with us to answer questions. I want a natural childbirth, and would have loved to have found a midwife (but didn't find one that met my needs). So I'm not impartial - I would have liked a doctor that was more actively supportive of natural childbirth (rather than just being "ok" with it), but I can see both sides of the loving Dr. De souza argument, and feel sort of in the middle - I both like and dislike his bedside manner, like and dislike his staff, etc.) Hoping the birth goes smootly so that I don't have to argue over inducement or breaking membranes. |
