Can you fry with olive oil?

It is not healthy to use olive oil at high temperatures, and it tastes bad.

Butter or coconut oil is the best for frying

Why would you waste decent olive oil? Fry in canola or other oil meant for that purpose and drizzle with good olive oil for flavor.

I saute veggies in olive oil, but if there's meat in the pan, I use canola, because I like to cook my meat at higher temps.

I agree with most of what people have said but wanted to add that if you choose to use olive oil, make sure it is low grade (just olive oil) as you would be wasting money on extra virgin or anything other than the lowest grade.

For high heat: avocado oil, ghee, coconut oil, or rendered animal fat. Olive oils, and most other common oils are prone to becoming oxidized during heating and then cause inflammation.

Olive oil is good for drizzling on cooked food and salad dressings. And is OK for sautéing at low temperatures.

If you mean to saute something in a pan - that's fine.
If you mean deep fry - NO, the smoking temp is too low and its too heavy. Your food will be greasy.

Yes. Get a deep fry thermometer and keep the temp at 350f you'll be fine. Have a spray bottle of ice water on hand. Spray the OUTSIDE of the pot if the oil is creeping above 350; will reduce the temp quickly. Again, stress spraying the outside of pot!
