Hilton Head Island - stay in Sea Pines and you can walk or bike everywhere. They have direct flights on weekends during the summer, I'm not sure about year-round, but otherwise its not far from Savannah.

+1 to the PP. We were there w both new borns, and it was great. We actually go there a lot, so we are fans. There are some flights directly onto the island also. It will be warm and beautiful there then.

OMG, I don't think I would take one of those flights with a newborn. It was bad enough when I went with my husband. I sat next to the pilot! We also had a delay coming back and almost missed our flight home from Boston. With a 6 week old, I would definitely fly direct.
