Did you apply to the FED yet? ![]() |
I interviewed at OCC once out of grad school for an econ position and it was not that fun.
As for the Fed - the SF one seems the most fun. |
All the real power and decision making is in NY and at the Board. The other Fed offices take their marching orders from DC and NY and their pay and relative lack of influence reflects that. |
On my way to the door here. Lol. I have passed the first round of interviews. How does the Fed set new employees' salaries? I believe I am now underpaid. |
As cryptically as possible. They use their "prestige" to pay less than OCC and FDIC. |
No idea. If you are miserable enough though, it may be worth taking a small paycut. Sometimes sanity comes with a price, unfortunately. And, you seem to be in an insane environment. ![]() |
Hmm. . . hard to see what is so "insane" about the OCC. Certainly the pace of work. |
Certainly "not" the pace of work. |
Managers who wreak havoc on the employees there -they exist! Overpaid managers who are users... |
Not unheard of at the Fed--but maybe less common? |
For a long time, the OCC was the personal concierge to the banks. After a management change 2-3 years ago they are less of a banking lapdog, but are finding it hard to adapt to the new world. |
What is lean six sigma??? |
Haha. "Management change" is one way to put it. The president appointed a new comptroller that has a completely different view of regulation, arguably or the better. All the rats from the old regime went scurrying to Promontory (e.g. Julie Williams)

Horrible Place. Creepy. Lots of unethical behavior there. |
