They have no idea. By 7th grade, they are exhausted from 12 years of helicopter parenting or just too busy with younger siblings, aging grandparents, trying for a 3rd time to get a 504 plan for Jr's ADHD so he can get extra time for the SATs, DH's porn addiction, DW's eating disorder, divorces, emotional affairs, how to get a more polished/high end look, why DH's suit is covered with cockapoo hairs after each business trip, etc.

A teenager in home ec class had to time how long a cake was to cook in the oven. They didn't have a timer. So they set an empty microwave to cook for 25 minutes. At about 15 minutes the fire department had to be called for the fire the microwave started. Everyone got to go outside and no more cooking class. Yay.
