Yes, this is pretty unambiguous: "When Van Ness ES reopens in SY15-14, it will need to reclaim its zone from Amidon-Bowen ES."

Probably good news for Amidon, if they can share some of the kids from the old Bowen ES back to Van Ness, creating two more economically diverse schools, especially now that Amidon's getting a little more traction in the neighborhood at least for the younger grades.

But isn't it too dangerous for kids to cross South Capitol going eastbound, even if ANC 6D wants DDOT to add a crosswalk on the North side of Eye Street and a signal at Half Street? Interesting that no one is complaining about the dangers of crossing South Capitol going westbound toward Amidon or Randall Rec Center.

Does anyone have actual experience with this school, particularly the PS program? I was shut out of round 1 and wondering if it could be an option for round 2. Thanks

Amidon? I think they filled all their spots for preK 3 and 4 with a small waitlist. Now that Appletree's secured a spot in SW, there may be a bit of reshuffling, though. Don't know the programs at Amidon per se, but the school's a nice facility (if way underperforming for upper grades): new playground and library within the last year, some subsequent stage of renovation to be done in the next year or so. Easily walkable from waterfront metro in a pretty quiet neighborhood.

On the grounds of Jefferson Academy, across the street from their old, Riverside Baptist church campus. Then, in 2017, they move to space in the new Wharf development.
