How funny is this? TTC for 3 years. We gave up, and I was pregnant the next month!

This is so me. I'm glad someone else is there too. DH thinks I'm making things too scientific with temping, OPK's, checking CM/CP etc. and thinks it would happen if I just ignored it all. However...it's so hard to innocently see that EWCM in your underwear mid-cycle and not know exactly what that means!

To OP--how did you "Just have sex"? I would think that after TTC for 3 years it would be extremely hard to" just have sex" because you'd have to know if you were fertile at the time of having sex or not.
We have TTC for several years (finally did IVF for both kids) and I clearly know when I'm fertile each month. 1) it's mid cycle 2) I get the discharge.
So even know I feel like I can't unlearn this knowledge and if we're having unprotected sex we're either trying or abstaining. There's no just innocently having sex.

I agree with this. If the story OP wants to tell yourself and others is that they "stopped trying" then more power to you. But those of us who had to try for a long time know that unless you re abstaining or using birth control, you are not "not trying".

we tried on our own for 3 years with no luck for #2. Finally decided we needed to try IUI - we had been diagnosed "unexplained secondary infertile" 1 year in (no glaring issues, although small possible contributing factors on both sides), but finally decided to bite the bullet, spend the money and attempt IUI.

Got pregnant on cycle #2, but miscarried at week 9. Did a total of 3 attempts, although the other 2 seemed off in timing to me.

Anyway, we'd taken a break over the holidays, but made a decision to give it a couple more tries before calling it quits entirely. We really thought it was due to my screwed up lady bits (titled uterus, twisty turny birth canal, oddly shaped pelvic bones plus scar tissue from my c-section) that sperm wasn't meeting egg and that having the doctor help to place the sperm in the right place at the right time was what had helped us finally get pregnant after many long years of nothing.

We waited for my period in January....and waited....and waited. I just thought my cycle HAD to be messed up. We may have had sex a couple times, but we hadn't really tracked anything at all as we just didn't think getting pregnant without a little intervention was possible.

So, I took a test when my period hadn't shown up for a week. I seriously could not believe my eyes that morning. I thought the damn thing was malfunctioning. I shook it a couple times, thinking that the "not" in front of the word pregnant had to be popping up at any moment.

Yes, we'd had sex without protection but really were NOT tracking - I never did do any of the temping or anything and only went so far as to get ovulation predictor tests before we had gone the IUI route. We really truly thought it just wasn't in the cards for us to get pregnant on our own.

My now-17 week gloriously round pregnant belly says different.
