| A million five (if I had it) (which I don't) (and never will). |
|
Probably around 1.8. I live in 1.1 now--2000 square feet, nothing special inside.
1.6 to 2.2 gets you 3000 square feet and nicer finishes in NW DC. |
| No limit. I wouldn't want a house larger than 4000 sq ft, maybe 5000 sq ft at the outer limit. But with money no object I could buy in the most convenient and best location, new or completely renovated (preserving any period architecture), and nicely furnished with decorator help. That could be $$$. |

| Well, I have a soft spot for grand houses on large pieces of property. I think my absolutely max if I could afford it would be $20 million. Whatever it is I want can certainly be had for that amount. |
Sounds terrible |
Me too. Even if I had unlimited funds. |
| My goal is to retire to California and real estate is expensive there. I hope to be able to build a dream house in a dream area with a little land. I'm guessing it'll be $5 million. Not sure if I'll be able to make that happen, but that's my dream. I would happily spend up to $10 million if I was able to pull it off. |
Same here. |
| Well...with budget constraints 300k is about the max we could go but if those weren't there maybe 1 million? I guess it depends on size. In my hometown outside of Pittsburgh 1 million can get you a disgustingly large home - 6000+ sq ft whereas in DC that will get you a nice, but not big or fancy house. So yeah, no maximum really, but definitely a maximum size - don't want anything bigger than 4000 sq ft. |
| My ex says he'd buy me a house if he won the Powerball; I told him I'd like to live in Lyon Village for the walkability and metro access. So probably $2M. Any more than that and the taxes would get oppressive. |
|
$3M. I actually find the homes at $9, $15, $20 etc pretty boorish and obscene. Statements of grandeur, often poorly done, sometimes exceptionally beautiful but always far more space than anyone needs.
So $3M - The only exception to this might be one of the nice land right on the river. Some of those might be worth the worth the extra few million for the land. Although if I had unlimited funds id rather have a helicopter, house in OBX, house in whistler,bc, maybe one in lyford key and a nice pied a terre in Paris or Rome. |

I suppose $50 million max. Here's one place in Santa Barbara I love:
