| Ask for a guest pass. The airlines really don't want people losing kids. Also, you never know when you might have a long delay. |

Guest passes are not guaranteed. If there is a security incident or higher alert, or if the person you see at the airline desk wants to be a PITA, they won't give you one. I had to race around the airport last Xmas with a 80yo parent with mild dementia, begging someone to override the jerk at the desk.
OP since your child is 2.5yo I'd either check the car seat (and yeah, probably lose the nap) or invest in a wheeled bad for the carseat. |
