How do you think the planned buy backs will effect this price adjustment?

It depends on how they're executed. I don't follow the company, but usualy when a buy back is announced the stock moves up and profits are taken - it goes back down.

I am a professional investor. With decades of experience, all the credentials and education one can get, and 40-80 hours every week devoted to thinking about investments, I am only marginally confident in my ability to outperform the market over time.

You have no chance. You are dumb money ... even if you might be an extremely smart person, you are representative of the suckers that professionals rely on to outperform. You should not own individual stocks. You certainly shouldn't own them if periodic corrections in good companies cause you to panic.

Buy an index fund. Get a better end to end return than you're likely to get relying on your gut intuition about companies and their stock prices. Sleep better at night.
