No good advice, just sympathy. My mom and MIL are both very jealous of each other. My mom is the worse of the two and constantly grills me on what MIL does for DC. Wants to know exactly how much each present costs, and when I won't tell her, she looks for it on the internet because she wants to say that MIL didn't spend enough. It's crazy. I try to do what PP said and never tell anything about what MIL does but it's very annoying because she won't let up. My best advice would be to provide the least specific information you possibly can.

OP I am very close with grandparents ( dad's side). My moms side to this day will grill me on how my dad's side is doing and they push, and push for information which I find quite rude. I'm in my mid 30's and I barely know my mom's parents. Both sides live close but I was only a priority for my dad's family. They (mom's side) wouldn't even attend my wedding because there were too many people coming from the other side.
