I know we have this thread a lot and there's always a vocal minority that says "accept your one cupcake and bypass the parents and be thrilled to be invited", but always err on the side of generosity. Since the vast majority is assuming that lunch-type foods are being served at this time, serve lunch. Lunch can be pizza, and Papa Johns or Dominos always has coupons.
Yes
I wouldn't think lunch was being served unless it was a park type setting. 12:30 is late for lunch in our school. The kids eat at noon. If it's a bounce house type party or other venue event they usually have the "fun" first followed by food. Now you're talking about lunch at 1:30 or 2.
Absolutely. Your party is at LUNCH time.
If you don't want to serve lunch, change the time.
I agree with PP, I wouldn't know what to expect unless specified. And, since I'd rather not have my kids snack though a whole meal, I would feed them before we left.
I would imagine lunch would be served, but would feed my kids something before leaving just in case.
Yes, of course.
Specify when inviting, please. It helps to know what to expect.
Yes.
If its not stated on the invite, I assume nothing. Even if lunch party started at 12.30, kids might not get served til 12.45/1, which would be too late for my kids. They'd be cranky by then! I'd feed 'em ahead of time so they're more likely to be good, well behaved guests.
Just ask the parents.

The time sort of implies lunch (maybe pizza or something similar?) will be served. But I wouldn't necessarily assume that a full meal was being served. It would be good to have some appetizers - chips, cheese & crackers for guests to munch on if you aren't planning to serve lunch.
If my kid was attending the party as a guest I would probably feed him/her a snack beforehand just in case. If food was served, good. If not, no biggie. |
Yes. No matter what time I provide food.
Same here. |
