| I have 6 months of bare bone expenses saved. My job is pretty stable. I just bought a townhouse and really wanted to use part of my emergency fund for the down payment, but I got really nervous about depleting all my accounts. |
Mine just broke - however a new dishwasher is not going to break the bank. Now if the furnace goes..... |
Lol. So true. We did our walk through. Settled the next morning. Went and moved stuff in and ate lunch and dinner in our new house. Ran the dishwasher. Returned the next evening and the dishwasher had let go, water all over the floor. |

Tale of Woe here -
We bought last summer. Inspector said basically all our systems are 25+ years old but working. Could last 3 months more, could last another 5 years. So far: Roof, furnace, washer and dryer, dishwasher, disposal and now possibly the A/C all had to be replaced. We've literally gone through our emergency fund just for this effing house. Now must rebuild another and hope there's nothing left to go wrong. (Pretty sure the fridge is next.) |
See above post... |
| 6 months of bare minimum expenses |
Hilarious!! |
| Well it depends, we have bought a new house so that we wouldn't have to worry about things breaking for another 5-10 years. |
Fires, trees falling, floods, etc. happen in new homes, too. |
Lmao. I'm dying here.

+1. This. |

"on special occasions, nuts"
LOL! |

6 months of expenses saved up (I would double your number if you get a house);
20% down payment on your house PLUS closing costs. You also need some $ to get an assessment done (of the home, roof etc.) |
