Is there anything I should/can do now to prevent crabgrass?

Big corn gluten fan but also you have to do stuff in the fall. If I knew what the was my lawn would look a lot nicer.

but seriously, over seeding and nto cutting the grass so short will solve 80% of your issues. aerate every other year, over seed in the fall and don'y use scott's or any other big box crap. go to a reputable garden center and get soem high quality stuff.
