Irving to be AAP center – sad

Im so confused! We are moving West Springfield this summer and my son will be in 8th grade at Irving. Where we live now he is in all Honors classes (they dont have any higher level classes for middle school) and is also taking Algebra 1 Honors now. I wasnt going to worry about any of the AAP stuff since its only for 1 year . As longs as he can just take all the honors classes (if he wants to) and geometry, Im fine with that. Im dont really want him all caught up in the AAP stress.

Does this change mean I now need to do something different or would have to do get the testing for AAP in order for him to do all honors classes?

No, your DC can take all the Honors classes you were planning. Honors classes are available to any MS student at any MS. You may have to jump through a hoop or two for the math class. They may wnat to verify the Algebra class he is currently taking.

Oh good, thanks for that info. I assumed they would want to verify that he was qualified to take Geometry in 8th grade.

OP ~ you're almost there. You've almost made it to high school when all this gifted nonsense melts away.

You said it, PP. High school is a whole different world, full of possibility. Thank goodness.
