We have a net worth of $4m and are not rich. I think about 10 million.
$10 mil.
$500 million. And you better have a Gulf Stream G6.
$1Billion
When you can live just off the interest your money earns.
+1. When I think of really rich I think of people who live well and who don't have to work (but of course, some do, many at high-paying jobs). Really rich to me is generally inherited wealth. |
I'd agree with this number. Not sure the Gulf Stream is required although would be nice. |
$100 million is called cent millionaire and is just enough to be noticeably rich among the rich. Takes $1B to make a splash. The bottom of the upper class is $10M. Might have gone up since I last looked!
For example 50 cent is worth $100M and is "rich". The Waltons are the richest family in the US with $30B each !!!! And folks with a net worth of $5-$10 are just extremely comfortable.
who cares?
It is easy. My condo is well-located, and we have a lot of equity in it, so that covers about half a million. Then, I didn't say that I had no savings, just that I don't have a ton and I am not fully funded. So we have about $300k in retirement, about $20 in college, and about $40k liquid. But we aren't currently even able to fully fund retirement, we have a small amount of credit card debt, we can't afford to put any more towards college at the moment, I can't afford to buy a three bedroom where I am, and I can only afford to get a babysitter about once a month (yes, I could afford one of any of these if I reprioritized, but it would require a shift of lifestyle that I don't prefer). I'm not saying that I am in a bad financial position, and I live a pretty great life, but I'm certainly not rich. |
Your guys make me feel so poor with $5M net worth. I need to get another job.
If those with $3M+ don't "feel safe and secure" what hope is there for the rest of us.
$100M
usually personal residence equity and pension assets do not count for this type of net worth…
