Understand school closures but the admin offices closed seems excessive

It's a biggie to those who use onsite child care. If you use a program that is open on snow days it won't be open if admin offices are closed.

Different locations. The county government rarely closes. It makes no sense as the clients who are going to many of the offices are on public transportation and very few actually go in on snow days. They don't value the safety of their employees. They stress customer service. It will take a dead employee or customer to have any change.

Actually, Mont. Co. Gov't has been closed 3 times this year, which is unheard of. (I'm a Mont. Co. Gov't employee.) But normally we do not close.

Mont. Co Gov't has offices ALL OVER the county. Government services are everywhere. The Schools are a separate entity. And they close separately. So do the Courts.

I'm an employee too. I'm pretty sure it didn't close because the operating budget was released yesterday.

But it was closed til 10am. And liberal leave. Pretty reasonable, IMO.

I don't think there is much question but that they just take vacation days. I was over at the central office today, it would be very easy to clear the parking lot and they always seem to say they are so very busy that I would think a day of work when schools are closed would help them get caught up. They should refund our tax money when they close those offices and if they get the waiver . . .

They might be working at home. I'm a county employee and I went into work yesterday, but government was shut down several times and technically I was not allowed to go to my office. Work doesn't stop, so I did work from home. Most professionals (paper pushers) are like that.

Sometimes the issue in FCPS is that they simply don't have the time, plows or staff to clear the snow to creat parking spaces - even enough for the staff. We had a foot of snow - that's a lot of asphalt to clear just to get a few parking spaces.

Other businesses, including local government, can get their parking lots clear, so can MCPS. A parking lot is very easy to clear.
