The Lourie Center only has 40 kids and the odds of getting in are pretty small. We have an interview for DD coming up soon and even though it's at the top of my list I don't know if we will be at the top of theirs.

The Foundation school seems to deal more with attachment disorder children than the Lourie school. Their school is also very small and isn't as revered as the other but I've heard great things about them and their work with attachment disorder children. It's in Landover, MD.

Thanks for the helpful and appropriate responses.

We many end up going private but we were hoping to find a truly integrated classroom for him in a public setting. It seems as if most schools are just a throwing these kids and kids with similar needs into a regular classroom and trying to make it work by flying by the seat of their pants with pull out therapy and aides which is not fair to anyone.

Does anyone have any experience with Montgomery county public schools asperger support classrooms?

Have you looked into the Fairfax ED centers?

You may want to start a new thread for this.

Somewhere on this forum there's a list of Moco schools and whether they are a homeschool model or other, but I can't seem to find it.

(Just out of curiosity, would a teaching approach for Aspergers be helpful for attachment disorder and why. A friend with an adopted child is looking into attachment disorder.)

Re: Foundation School, there's one in Largo and one in Gaithersburg:

I believe that the Auburn School (several locations) provides OT and has (or had) a sensory room (for the kids when they are in sensory overload). The Newton School does provide some of these supports also. These are not inexpensive options, but the more we can provide our children as they are growing, the hope is that they will need less supports later on.

NP here. Wanted to follow up on this. I also have a child with disorganized attachment and ptsd, adopted domestically. OP, did you get any good info? Have you reached out to these schools? I'm starting this process, and wanted to see if you had any updated info.
Thanks.
