I find it informative, why does it make you sick?

My area of NoVa is very diverse and median income is $115k. I am in an interracial marriage with interracial kids and I'd say 1/8 to 1/4 of the kids in my dc's class are also interracial. The diversity is one of the reasons I love her school, along with it being rated highly. And I'm not talking about just mixed black/white relationships, but mixed Asian/white etc. I've never seen Southeast Asian people in a mixed relationship though, I don't think. I'm in my thirties, not sure what the folks who are in their twenties are doing.

Me too, PP. It inspired me to read a summary article on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interracial_marriage_in_the_United_States

Interesting snippets:

White Americans were statistically the least likely to wed interracially, though in absolute terms they were involved in interracial marriages more than any other racial group due to their demographic majority. 2.1% of married White women and 2.3% of married White men had a non-White spouse. 1.0% of all married White men were married to an Asian American woman, and 1.0% of married White women were married to a man classified as "other".

4.6% of married Black American women and 10.8% of married Black American men had a non-Black spouse. 8.5% of married Black men and 3.9% of married Black women had a White spouse. 0.2% of married Black women were married to Asian American men, representing the least prevalent marital combination.

The role of gender in interracial divorce dynamics, found in social studies by Jenifer L. Bratter and Rosalind B. King, was highlighted when examining marital instability among Black/White unions.[9] White wife/Black husband marriages show twice the divorce rate of White wife/White husband couples by the 10th year of marriage,[9] whereas Black wife/White husband marriages are 44% less likely to end in divorce than White wife/White husband couples over the same period.[9]

I was at the national zoo yesterday and there were a lot of inter-racial couples (mostly early 30s w/ young kids). Seemed like majority were white and east asian.

Among my friends and neighbors

On my street alone there are two Black-White marriages (one is AA, the other is black but from Africa) as well as one South Asian-White marriage. I have one family member (I'm white) who married an AA woman. I'm also in a wedding this summer of a white friend marrying an AA man.

All couples are in their 40s. Not sure if this is the young demographic you mean, or if you're talking teens and 20-somethings. Don't know many of those so I can't tell you.

No. There are a ton of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, and others. Yes, less AAs depending on what suburb you are in. Out of the 5 inter racial couples 2 are AA/white, one is AA/Chinese, one is Indian/white, and the other is Korean/AA
