LOL. Please do. What a great use of your time.

STFU and let people believe as they want.

PP here - interesting the assumptions you make - OP said her children "had issues" with the church and it's teachings and I said she should take comfort in knowing she has raised people who actually use what god/the universe/whatever you want to say gave them ie: their brains. Please name the great philosopher/theologian/thinker who didn't come to their beliefs - whatever they are- through questioning and intellectual struggle.

OP understood what I said - you unfortunately are clearly programmed to view anything other than unquestioning adherence to something someone told you as an attack. Your prayers (as reflexive and unthinking as they must be) are most unneeded and unwelcome.

Thanks anyway.

I think it's pretty common, OP. Didn't you have doubts or at least questions when you were that age?

However, a they are both not interested in learning about God, and they have many issues with the church and its teachings. My DH and I trying very hard to bring them back to the faith. We live in a religious household- Mass every sunday, prayer, gospel reading, rosary. Has anyone gone through this before? How did it turn out? I would love to hear some feedback--just curious if this is a common attitude amongst teenagers now. TIA!

Some people are just not cut out for religious belief

OP, let them explore their doubts. Reality says only THEY can decide what they believe and don't believe. Don't discourage their questions, it's a good learning phase.

I no longer believe, but the more I was pushed the less likely I was to attend services etc.

They can be good without God. Lots of people are.

NP here. You're referring to the atheists who insert themselves on every thread and refer to religion as a "crock of shit"? Not terribly impressive examples of "goodness"....

... no matter how you define "goodness", whether you use a secular or religious standard, these nasty posters kinda fail....

This is true. Not believing doesn't make you a bad person any more than believing makes you a good person.

What's your opinion of the PPs on this thread calling believers "brainless"?

I'm not referring to the people on this board, I'm speaking generally. DCUM is all about snark. Going to church and claiming to believe in and follow Christ doesn't automatically make someone a good person. Catholic Priests would be the first example that comes to mind. The numerous people who go to church for a couple of hours/week and then go home and pay lip service until next Sunday.

Religious/Non-Religious doesn't equal good or bad IMO.

OP- I am going thru this now. I think it is a normal feeling for them and they may come back as the get older.

I was referring to the people on this board, and that's a legitimate topic. In particular, why are you giving a free pass to douchebags like the one who is calling everyone brainless, even as you make sweeping generalizations about all catholic priests? (I'm not Catholic, FWIW, but even I get tired of the endless bashing here.) And then you seem to excuse said douchebag PP with a random aside about DCUM and snark. None of this is very consistent, is all.

Seriously? So you want a space where you are free to discuss religion, but only the aspects of religion that appeal to you? Believe it or not, atheism actually falls under the umbrella term "religion". The greater context may be that we think it's a crock of shit, but that doesn't mean our opinions regarding religion are invalid.

Seriously, how about a little common courtesy? You atheists DO have space to talk about your beliefs, on threads that we believers generally leave alone. Why not extend the same courtesy to others?

LOL.. ok. Nothing I say will satisfy you. I don't believe responding to rude people on here accomplishes anything besides feeding a troll. Although maybe calling them doucebags helps.. I don't know. One rude name for another I guess?

Those responses do nothing for the OP.

Anyway... back to OP..

Kids will question. It doesn't necessarily mean they will leave their faith. Questioning is part of growing.
