Clotty periods and fertility

Anonymous
I have had three mc due to immune issues. I have antiphospholipid syndrome, will have to take Lovenox shots every single day of my future pregnancy. I would definitely ask that to be checked, I had clotty af since I was a teenager and clotting issues are cause of infertility in some women.

I had very clotty periods (very large clots) starting as a teenager and never realized that it was abnormal until doing a little research. However, my RE didn't seem concerned about it. When I started my fertility journey I had a polyp removed and then 2 D&C followed by fertility based acupuncture and the clots went away. I don't remember which actually took the clots away or if it was a combo. But like the above poster I did get bright red blood after having acupuncture done. I had started with IUI's and moved on to IVF and I'm now 33 weeks along.

I have endometriosis and cloth periods. Never knew it was abnormal until I stared acupuncture - made everything normal!

I've always had clotty periods with tons of pain (both increasingly bad as I got older) and had a ton of trouble getting pregnant (took 2 years, 5 IUIs & meds). Infertility was unexplained. Then, when I had my c-section, doctor said endometriosis was apparent in my uterus. (Given that endo improves during pregnancy, if it was that apparent during my c-section, it was likely really bad formerly.) Anyway, my post-birth periods have been nowhere near as bad, likely because the pregnancy helped (at least temporarily) treat the endo. Definitely going to look into acupuncture after reading this thread.

Dr Paul Mackoul at Center for Innovative Gyn may be a good resource/consult for this. I had always had very reguslr, bright fresh blood periods but a few years ago started passing more clots. We were TTC for 2 years until I saw him. I had a polypectomy and endometrial removal and am now 24 weeks post IVF.

I'm 19:13. Just wanted to add that I think acupuncture helped lengthen my cycle from 25 days to 27 days. I also drank Red Raspberry Leaf Tea which is good for the uterus.

I had clotty periods and stage 4 endometriosis.

I had very clotty periods and endo.

To the PP who said endo was apparent during your c section, they must have seen it on the outside of your uterus or elsewhere in your pelvic cavity. You may want to have it investigated with an endo specialist. As one told me just this week, endo is the ONLY "benign" medical condition that damages the healthy tissue around it. Your pregnancy suppressed it because you weren't having those monthly hormonal surges, but it will probably come back unless it is treated :-/

That PP was me. Totally aware it will start to come back over time. (I did BF for ~15 months and didn't get a period during that time, so am hopeful that that may have helped more/at least kept things stable; first periods back were lighter than usual, so I'm hopeful it worked at least somewhat.) I'm now trying to get pregnant now during the endo-not-as-bad phase. I *think*, however, that she meant she could see it in the uterus during the c-section (she commented while I was still on the table, post-delivery, while she was pulling out the placenta, which was... weird).
