I've been in the industry for 20+ years and not making that. I had lots of friends from the newspaper industry with 15+ years who are now in nonprofits, pr, marketing, consulting, etc. and none of them are making that.
I'm sure those jobs exist, but there aren't that many of them, and you've got to bring a lot to the table. |
| FWIW, many editors at the Post make six figures. OP doesn't sound like that's her direction, though. I'm a senior editor at a non-profit with 10 years' experience and I will probably never make six figures. |
Well, this is DCUM, where everybody tends to boast about their amazing salaries and positions where six figures are handed out like candy. |
| Not a quite route to a job, but international organizations (ex. World Bank) often have opportunities for consultants in online communications/social media. If you're a US citizen with your sort of experience, you can get a daily rate of $350-$450. Our longest consulting contracts are for 150 days/year. |
