Will the PG County Charter School Lottery Results be pushed back

I would think most likely look for another school. Have not done the charter lottery but for first grade i would think most will stay and keep there spots.

I was told by the school system that the letters that have been mailed out will contain more information regarding placement. Placement depends on the number of open slots, and the letter should tell you whether your child was placed or waitlisted. The online results merely provide where your child is on the list. But, I also was told that the higher the number, the less chance of getting in (unless you are applying to a brand new school, or the desired grade will have all new students).

Well, the website says "Placement offers will be extended in the order as shown in the PDF document below for each public charter school location and grade level." To me, this means that you will be the 66th person to get an offer (if no spots available, then the waiting list). The Imagine Andrews' website only looks like there are 2 classes for first grade and I doubt if there are 30+ kids per class. Keep in mind that 65% of the seats are reserved for families living on the base. I am no expert but these are my thoughts.

Did anyone get their letter yet? The mail didn't come yesterday due to the snow so I'm hoping it comes today.

No letter I am going based on the link that is on the pg county website. And I did not get a low number. Well I say low is number 1-20. I hope you have better luck then me.

Encouragement--because parents could apply to as many charter schools as they wanted to be considered for, it is a good chance that a high number is not really that high. For example, we were advised to apply for both CMIT North and South campuses, even though it was unlikely that we would accept the North slot. Many of the numbers in front of ours have high numbers at other schools so we don't know if those slots will open up until after the spots are declined. Case in point, when I looked up the numbers for spots 1-20 for CMIT South, only 8 of those appeared to only have that one choice high enough for admittance (ie no other applications or high numbers elsewhere), that means 60% may go elsewhere --and that is only for public charters, not considering if they wait for a specialty school or end up choosing to pay for private. I'm so glad that we are getting more options for our kids in the county! Slowly but surely, we will get there.

Good point PP! We only applied to CMIT Elementary but I forgot that other folks probably applied to multiple charter schools.

My child received a high number for College Park Academy and EXCEL charter. We usually almost never get anything in the lottery. Last year, she received a spot at Pullen (specialty school), but she wanted to stay at her current elementary to enjoy her last year as a 5th grader.

I am seriously considering CPA, but I'm very unsure about EXCEL. I've read about lowered test scores and some bullying at the latter school. And I need to learn more about the online aspect of CPA, although I can see where my child could benefit. I really wanted CMIT, but she doesn't rank very high there. I guess just about everyone else wanted CMIT too. I've heard nothing but good things about it. We'll see. I am just grateful to have some choices.

So, we received our letter today and received placement for first choice (CMITnorth) and waitlisted for CMITsouth. If it helps, our lottery number was in 40s for north, and 150s for south. For those waiting for CMIT north, I have been reading their newsletters and last year 6th grade had seats for 150 students. So hopefully, things have not changed. Good luck to everyone!

We got an email from CMIT Elementary stating that we were offered placement but still no letter from the county. Hopefully it will come today. They are starting to register students today but you need the placement letter.

If you don't get a letter by Tuesday call them, you have until Friday March 14 to accept the placement.

PP, check the facebook page for CPA. I think there have been some bugs they've been working out so it's got mixed reviews so far.

Thanks. I searched for it but cannot find it. I also notice that the school's website is still does not have much information.

Meanwhile, my child also got a slot at CMIT. So we'll need to choose between the two, but I am leaning towards CMIT.

I received my letter from PG last Friday, you should also receive an email from CLF or CMIT if your child was selected in the lottery, also you can check PG county website, enter your child student ID number and it will tell your where your child placed in the lottery depending on the number of schools you selected during the lottery process. I went and registered my son yesterday for CMIT. This is def. an opportunity of a lifetime, especially living in PG county with it not being the best school system in the state. So when this opportunity came around and my son was accepted, I immediately signed the letter and went and registered him yesterday. Now I don’t have to rack my brain when time comes to look for a middle or high school for him.

I am right there with you. I was hoping for an info session first, like there was for CPA, so I can bring my child. I may take a deep breath, and go register my child anyway at CMIT this week, to be on the safe side. I truly have heard nothing but good things about CMIT, although CPA's program also sounds exciting.
