401k amounts??

Anonymous
27 years old and 34k....i don't think it will ever be enough! The only "good thing" is my salary is only 60 k so I am use to living a very low maintenance (but genuinely happy) life.

Hahaha. This made me laugh. Only a real champ - super secure - gets defensive about an anonymous message board post. So whatever ... classic.

Put some money in your retirement. You'll feel better about yourself and be able to make a constructive comment in this thread.

DH: 36, $395k
Me: 34, $178k

We put about $60k a year away for retirement, not counting employer match, but I don't see that is useful information to anyone.

If you really want a constructive comment how about "comparing 401k amounts is a silly exercise because what I save, and what I'll need in retirement, is irrelevant to your circumstances"

Me: 250k (age 36)
DH: 247k (age 40)

I started saving at 21. My DH has a professional degree and starting saving at 27. I don't have a professional degree. Time makes a huge difference.
