STFU. Are you serious? Hilarious. |
| We went through the process a few years ago, so my comments might be outdated. At Lowell, Green Acres, and GDS, we just sat around drinking coffee and gossiping with other parents about different schools we'd visited on the application circuit. Sidwell had an open Q&A session for parents, which was really boring at first because no one was asking meaningful questions, but ended up being pretty informative once a few brave souls started asking substantive questions. For any school reading these boards, I'd really recommend the open Q&A format because it's a chance for parents to get questions off their chests. |
| Has anyone done the play date at Maret this year? DC is going next week and I've not heard what the parent situation is. My experience this year has been: teacher presentation at Beauvoir (was ok but she talked the whole time and no Q & A, plus pretty redundant from the open house and tour), at GDS the parents sat and chatted (this was pretty nice actually), and Sidwell as a PP noted was literally drop and go (please leave). |
Not true! |
| OP here - they told us to drop them off and come back for them. DS separated well, so I guess it is a non issue. |
Maret doesn't really have space for waiting parents so usually everyone just wanders off. There's a Starbucks about 3 blocks away. |
| WIS parents wait in a room with fruit and pastries and some talk amongst themselves and others use their electronic devices |
| Lowell is true. This happened to me too. I was asked to make a collage while my child had the playdate, and it was glued next to my child's drawing as a "keepsake" item. I'm not sure how I'll feel about this keepsake if we don't get in... |
