That's surprising. I expected a late opening but I thought things are supposed to warm up in just a few hours.

Not soon enough for the HS kids...will MCPS makeup the day in June?

I bet not. A few years ago when we had those monster storms they went way beyond their snow day allotment and didn't add days to the end of the year.

I'm a teacher who lives close to the Howard line.

I'm actually surprised we're closed. I haven't been out, but cars seem to be handling our side roads with great success!

I have seen two trucks pass through, dropping whatever! So maybe the coating is working.

still . . .
a little odd

any dicey spots elsewhere?

The state was very "flexible" in the past.

One year, we added about 10 minutes to each day, I think, which was ridiculous. An extra 2 minutes (or so) per class is really nothing.

This makes me laugh.

I have a job, thanks.

Also, I know that MCPS usually makes their announcement around 5 am, for understandable reasons, and so whatever plans I make need to take that into account.

But you are not me, and if you don't want to take that into into account in your plans, then you don't have to!

yeah - agree
very stupid

By that time, the kids' internal clocks had been set. So they noticed the extra 2 minutes and started to become antsy.

It may be worse out there - especially toward Damascus and Poolesville.

But that was for very unusual snowfall that kept us out for days end to end. None of these have been anything like that. I'd like to see them make up the time this year.
