Know anyone who commutes from Annapolis to DC? Or Annapolis parent forum?

I commute from Annapolis to DC every day and have for the last 10 plus years. I work right near Cap Hill so I'm close to rt. 50. Commute is manageable but stressful if you have children in school and if your spouse is also a commuter. Lots of folks do it but that doesn't make it right or good. Go early or go late for the commute to be better, definitely listen to traffic reports on multiple stations.

No Annapolis parent forum or at least I haven't found one.

What schools are you looking at in Edgewater? And what type of neighborhood are you in now that you think that Edgewater is attractive -- not trying to put down Edgewater but it's not known to be a yuppie/buppie/upper middle class/ 2 professional household type of community (trying to put it politely). Sure the houses are nice in some parts but other than that there is nothing there -- no decent shopping or restaurants or services.

50W to 295S to the 11th St bridge is terrible in the AM. I mean, the opposite is bad in the PM, too, but it's even worse in the morning. Several years ago, 295S past south of 50 usually moved pretty well. But when more people moved north or east and when the 11th St bridge was redone, things got exponentially worse.

I live in SS now and it's faster to get to Arlington via 16th and RCP than it was via 295S from College Park.

OP we admittedly don't know much about edgewater. We're just beginning looking into areas and trying to find a time to check areas out. A colleague who lives near Amnapolis suggested edgewater. We were focusing on good schools & near the water with space for kids to run. I don't care much about shopping but near a few decent places to eat & some other families would be nice. And we want to be within 20 min drive of Annapolis or DC proper on the weekends. I know that's not true of DC out there - but it's a reason were not looking in places in the middle of DC & Annapolis.

I drive from Davidsonville to Conn and K. About 55-70 min at 8:15 to 8:30. Frankly its not as bad as I thought. I leve work at 6:45-7:00 and that's about 45-55 min. Well worth it to live out here - very well balanced community
